What are Stainless Steel 310S Flanges?
Grade 310S is an austenitic stainless steel carrying roughly 25% chromium and 20% nickel, a composition that gives it exceptional resistance to oxidation at temperatures up to around 1150°C. Flanges made from this grade connect pipe sections, valves, and equipment in systems where heat resistance matters as much as corrosion resistance.
Features & Benefits
High-temperature oxidation resistance is at the core of 310S's value, letting it perform in furnace and heat-treatment environments that would destroy standard 304 or 316 components. Low carbon content in the "S" variant limits carbide precipitation during welding, preserving corrosion resistance at the joint. The alloy also retains good strength and ductility across a wide temperature swing, from cryogenic conditions up through its high-temperature service range.

Manufacturing Process
Production begins with forging round bar or plate stock under high pressure to achieve the correct grain flow for pressure-retaining service. Machining brings each flange to its final bore, face, and bolt-hole dimensions according to the applicable ASME standard. Heat treatment follows to relieve internal stress and restore a uniform microstructure before final finishing.
Quality & Testing
Each batch is tested for chemical composition and mechanical testing for tensile and yield strength to confirm it fulfils the specification. Dimensional inspection ensures bore, face and bolt-circle to the required. Surface and interior problems are screened with non-destructive testing such as dye penetrant and radiographic examination. Hydrostatic testing to confirm pressure integrity as required. Mill Test Certificate to EN10204 3.1 is issued with each flange.
